Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood was born on September 7, 1987 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her father, Ira David Wood III, is a theatre actor writer, director and writer, as is her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. Her brothers who are older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who also have been actors. Evan and her brothers occasionally performed at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh the company her father started and where he is the executive director. After a lengthy audition process, she was five years old when she was able to screen-test against Kirsten Dunst. In the year 1996, she moved to Los Angeles along with her brother Ira and mother. She has been a star in TV series as well as feature films and TV movies ever since. She starred as Tracy in Practical Magic (1998) and S1m0ne (2002, Al Pacino's child). Holly Hunter followed with Thirteen (2004). The role she played as Tracy in "Thirteen," which she performed in received her a nomination from the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama, as well as a nomination from Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance By a Female Actor In a Leading Role. She was the youngest actress to have been nominated for the Leading Role award at the time. For her role as Veda Pierce, in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) earned her an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her dramatic portrayal of Stephanie Rourke's estranged child in Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler (2008) earned her acclaim. Sara Wood and Ira David Wood III are her parents. Ira David Wood III's younger sister. She is a certified dancer. She loves to dance, sing, rollblade, and horseback ride. She is the black belt in tae the kwon-do. She stays in touch with many of her Once and Again (1999 castmates: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
